A standard document shall include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Definition of confidential information<\/strong><\/em>. This section must include a clear description of which type of data shall be protected.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Confidentiality obligation<\/strong><\/em>. The text of a contract should outline the employee&#8217;s confidential obligation and prohibition of its disclosure to unauthorised third parties.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Permitted disclosures<\/strong><\/em>. Every employee should have the right to disclose any employer&#8217;s confidential information in a limited number of circumstances, known as &#8216;permitted disclosure&#8217;. In case of a permitted disclosure, an employee does not legally breach their contractual duties. These situations may include whistleblowing, disclosure based on the court order or on the government authority&#8217;s demand, etc.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Duration<\/strong><\/em>. Every confidentiality agreement template UK should also include the period of time within which given confidential information shall remain confidential. Usually the employee should keep information confidential for the whole duration of their employment relations and some time after the termination of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fasterdraft.com\/uk\/product\/employment-contract\"><em>employment contract<\/em><\/a>. The total duration of a confidentiality agreement for employees in the UK can be 6 to 24 months.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Breach of Confidentiality<\/strong><\/em>. A non-disclosure confidentiality agreement for employees should outline all legal consequences an employee may face in case of the breach of confidentiality.
