    Civil Partnership is a legally recognised relationship available to both same-sex and opposite-sex couples that provides almost all the same legal rights, responsibilities, and protections as marriage, without being a marriage itself.

    Joint Tenants – both parties own the whole property together in equal shares. If one party dies, their interest automatically passes to the surviving party under the right of survivorship, regardless of any will.

    Tenants in Common – each party owns a separate share of the property, which may be equal or unequal. There is no right of survivorship, so each party’s share can be left to someone else in their will or pass under the rules of intestacy.
